It’s re-design time.

Ahh the smell of freshly laid pixels. The allure of a grid so tight you could use it to forge digital Shredded Wheat (this has become very daft, very quickly). What the hell am I talking about? Well look around dude; this pimp has new threads. Word!
It’s been a good twelve months since the MWP [...]

Ooooo parallax! ay-pe TV

Building on the successful launch of the ay-pe website. The guys in York requested an update recently. So we thought we’d have some fun!
Given the hand-drawn nature of ay-pe’s latest and greatest project; an animated flip-book telling the story of the cultural history at Clitheroe Castle. Ay-pe asked if we could reflect the look and [...]

Look at the size of that thing! Creswell Crags is go go go!

We love the concept of things coming ‘full circle’ here at madewithpixels. So when we were offered an opportunity to re-think, enhance and re-launch an award-winning website for a major visitor attraction that we’d been involved with more than a decade ago. We thought all our birthdays had come at once.
Creswell Crags on the Nottinghamshire [...]

They’re right… less is definitely more. Ay-pe goes live.

Minimalism is actually surprisingly difficult to achieve. Especially on the internet. Buttons, forms, calls-to-action. All of these things are generally consdidered ‘the norm’; and all of them threaten the purity of a minimalistic approach.
When ay-pe, a York based CGI and Video Post Production House approached us with a website brief that comprised: one button, big [...]

Go big or go home. Mednet is launched

One school of thought when starting on your first project as a fledgling web agency might be: Start small – work your way up. Another might be – take the largest project you can manage; and ace it. We chose the latter.

Mednet Consult are a Healthcare communications agency based in Leeds. Working closely with pharmaceutical [...]

Welcome to the big wide world (again)

This post – has been a long time coming.

You, the reader (ha!) may be forgiven for being less than enthusiastic about this little corner of t’world wide t’interweb. Especially were you to be expecting relevant, cutting commentary, satire and repartee regarding the state of play for graphic designers in todays digital marketplace. In fact I’m [...]

Frank Turner, a grassy knoll and others…

Continuing the live music theme, and totally ignoring the original intent of this blog, I felt compelled to post today after witnessing another sublime musical miracle at the hands of rising star and demi-god of modern folk music, the awesome Frank Turner (myspace).

In preparation for his support slot for The Holloways (myspace) last night at Leeds University Union, Mr Turner Esq wowed a largely impromptu audience with a short but oh so sweet set on the grass outside the venue during a fire alarm incident.

Belting out three numbers from his albums, with a much appreciated and spine-tingling (but hardly necessary given his vocal talents) helping hand from his devoted Leeds following, he finished up with an acoustic rendition of Abba's Dancing Queen; much to the delight of all.

“You start to laugh, down comes the rain”

Your first gig. When, Who, Where? Mine was a band from Leeds called the Bridewell Taxis. A band that although never quite reaching its full potential – their support slots for Happy Mondays, the Inspirals and the Stone Roses were probably the peak of their awareness; had a strong local following. They split in [...]

Hello world!

So, I’m blogging. I’d be willing to place a small wager on that particular phrase turning up a few results when ‘googled’. Why then, has it taken me so long? When many of my peers have jumped in feet first?
Although blogging and keeping diaries are things that very much appeal to elements of my personality, [...]
